English Capabilities

In English for task 6 we had a Dramatic performance where in groups we had to choose an issue and write a play on it then perform it. Our group chose the effect of drug addiction on the person and their family. Our play consisted of a Drug addict father, a concerned son and a worried wife. We showed his result of taking drugs by him pushing his family away without realising. We also showed that with the right people and support people can recover from things such as this. During this task we had to overcome certain problems, and this helped identify our capabilities, these included effective communication and problem solving

Effective communication is something we experienced quite a bit of this during this task. From choosing an idea to writing the play and performing it we had to communicate to make it work. Writing the play, we used this the most as we had to communicate in order to write a play, we were all comfortable with performing and everyone liked. We also used this a lot when performing as we had 2 group members away, so we had to improvise and take on some of their roles. Being able to communicate in school and out of school made this task a lot easier. We communicated out of school by texting to make sure everyone was up to date on information regarding the task.

Due to some issues, we had, we had to use problem solving to overcome these issues. The main issues we had was having 2 group members not here on the performance day and me joining the group quite late. Due to having 2 members not here on the day we had to problem solve and work around the issue, we did this by taking on some more roles and organizing it beforehand. I joined the group late due to some complications, so the group had to improvise and change the script and idea a bit to fit me in. We all sat together and wrote the play to help include me in the group.

Overall, this task helped me highlight and develop capabilities such as effective communication and problem solving. These capabilities benefited me during the task and outside of school.
