9/10 Lock Day Trip

Our day trip to Dwellingup was a bright and early start. We left school at 7:00am and arrived in Dwellingup at about 9:00am. When we got there we were meant to go kayaking straight away but the road to the lake was closed. This was annoying because it meant we had to double back the way we came which cut down significantly on our kayaking time. When we finally got to kayaking we had to use collaboration to quickly get all of the kayaks down to the water so we could get as much time on the water as possible. After our kayaking we emptied the water out of our boats and left our skirts and life jackets on the deck near the kayaks. Everyone put on their warm clothes and got back on the nice warm and heated bus and we made our way back to the base to cook our lunch. We had to use some problem solving to try different things to get our fire going because we weren’t allowed to pick up things off the ground so that we could leave no trace. Matthew, EJ and I made burger on the hot plate and Luc boiled some dumplings and cooked pancakes for us all. After we watched our fires burn out we we packed up our food and put it under the cover while we walked to treetop. Once we got through the safety demonstration we started climbing. We picked our course and then went off in groups to complete them together. we had to use problem solving to help each other out when our carabiners double locked and we had to help each other to move on.
