Role Models and Me

My House of Values

My top 10 values are healthy, balance, honesty, openness, gratitude, care, family/friends, growth, determination and respect

Balance – This is my top value in life, I believe finding balance in everything is essential in order to achieve your best. What I mean by this is putting equal effort/ time into every task and ensuring you have time to do what you love. To put this in a real-life example,  balancing school work and other co-curricular activities. Whether the activity be dancing,  or just watching Netflix, I believe balancing the time of doing your favourite thing and school work is good. I got told this at the beginning of the year in year 7 by a year 11, she said finding balance can improve your mood and wellbeing. If you have balance in life, life would be less stressful and more organised.

Care – Caring for yourself, others and the environment is another strong value. I believe everyone needs to be cared for and caring.  You can become a better person if you care for yourself. For example, if someone is upset, caring for them (like comforting them, asking if they are ok) makes you a better person and ideally a role model. Ideally caring for yourself means always thinking on the ‘bright side’, never underestimate yourself, and take care of yourself whether it be mentally or physically. You only have one self. Caring is so important in my opinion.

Gratitude – I think life is great, I value being grateful. Gratitude is being thankful for everything. That can be being grateful for gifts, events or even your life. I think life is full of great things, and being grateful for them makes you happier. Even if bad things occur every now and then, I tend to be grateful for them, because I believe things happen for a reason. Bad things always have something positive. For example, getting a not so good score on a maths test isn’t that great, but that score may reflect on your effort and beforehand studying. This is what I mean by things happen for a reason. Anyway, being grateful is always a value that you can learn from and gratitude is a good skill to develop as well.

All 3 values make you become a more positive, caring and organised individual. They all also remind me to think on the bright side of life, surround yourself with positive people!

Good Role Model – Luca Manfe

1 – Luca Manfe was known for his good character. He had a never give up attitude. In the previous season, he had auditioned but failed to get in. That didn’t stop him. He came back with a lot more determination.  This behaviour shows that he has a positive mindset. He is also kind-hearted, has a big heart, is patient and is passionate. He also knows how to bounce back and improve from his mistakes. In season 4, he started as a weak contestant and made simple mistakes. But he never gave up and began to learn from his mistakes, eventually placing him at the top. Because of his positive and determined mindset, he ended up winning the season. I love how he showed so much respect to everyone despite it being a fierce competition. He helped people when they needed him. He was a team player, always putting in 100% and he never caused any conflicts in team challenges. Instead, he stays out of it and tells people to stop fighting and act in a mature manner. He is a very mature person and I look up to that.

2 – He looks tall, has brown hair and is quite fit. I think he is healthy because he shows it through his behaviours.

3 –  I think he tries to promote that even if you make a mistake or fail, you should never give up. He came back to try again at Masterchef and was determined. This is inspiring because he tells us to keep on going and improve from our mistakes. He also has a kind personality which makes him a healthy person.

4 – Young people should look up to Luca because he is such a kind person. Even in hard times in the competition, he never caused any problems with his contestants. He is very wholesome and never argues with anyone.

5 – Linking to my house of values, he demonstrates 3 of mine. Care, respect and healthy.

Bad Role Model – Krissi Biasiello

1 – Krissi Biasiello was in the same season as my good role model, Luca, except she acted differently from him.  She was known as ferocious, high tempered, stubborn and rude. She often threatened physical violence toward her competitors, she told them that she used to beat up people in high school. She also was not a team player, she often caused negative toxic conflicts for no particular reason. She refused to take responsibility for her mistakes. She was known for being a loudmouth and having a horrible attitude.

2 – She isn’t as fit as Luca, she is short and has brown curly hair. I believe she isn’t that healthy, I know this because she has anger issues and believes violence solves it.

3 –  Linking from the answer above, she does believe being violent solves everything. This is a very unhealthy thing to promote to others. We all know that it is wrong to physically hurt someone. She is also known as the bully and she was proud of that. Another thing she would ‘promote’ is a bad attitude, she always rolled her eyes, she once rolled her eyes and talked behind a judge’s back. In the interview afterwards, she said that the judge was wrong and she was always right. This is bratty action and not healthy to showcase this.

4 – Krissi is not a role model and I think no one should look up to her. Unfortunately, her behaviours showed were the complete opposite of my good role model.

5 – Media cannot be 100% reliable. Words and information can be twisted, biased, edited and scripted. Sometimes, we can tell if the media we take in is really true. But sometimes it is hard to notice. I think not everything in the media is true. For example, Krissi is my bad role model based on her appearance in the show. She may have changed the way she acts. The show may have edited out whenever she was being nice, we will never know.
