earthquake building science

in science this term we have been building an earthquake-proof building out of spaghetti and blu-tact. the requirement for this project was a 60cm tall building. the max base that you could have was 30cm. you had $60 to spend and each 10cm of spaghetti and each gram of blu-tact was $1. in my group I had joe and Jordan. the roles in our group were that I was the speaker, Jordan was the project manager and joe was the reporter.

our first design was a simple design that we got some inspiration from the internet. when we were designing we did get off track a bit but then we got back on to the work. our first design looks like this.

it is a simple design that I think would work but I don’t know because we built a completely different one. on our first time building, it went horrible because it kept breaking. but when we tried it again Jordan was not here so we had to work around that by joe and I working together. after we had built it we put it on the shake table and it was going very well. it had a strong build.
