HASS PROGRESS REPORT: 2

Since Last Update:

Since our last progress report we have made a fair bit of progress. We have done more research into the long term effects 9/11 has had on the world and more specifically how it has mentally affected the citizens of the United States. We also have completed a setup plan for how our booth will look on the day when we will present our work and made final decisions on the sources we will use in this project.

Setup plan:

We have decided that our setup will include a model of the twin towers displaying information on where the planes hit, a PowerPoint giving people information on the terrorists behind the attacks aswell as the ongoing damage caused by the attacks and also a big card background that will display information on how the attack went down and all the short term affects.

Capabilities:

Since our project is on a sensitive subject that requires a lot of work we have had to use certain capabilities to help ourselves out. These include:

  • Ethical
  • Collaboration
  • Organisation

Ethical

Throughout the process of making our project we have faced many dilemmas where we have not been sure if the ideas we have come up with would be suitable to share to a wider audience due to the sensitive nature of our topic. Though using our ethical capabilities we have created a plan that will keep our project respectful and make sure no one gets offended.

Collaboration

Since this project is a group effort collaboration is key to success. Our group has gone to great lengths to make sure we are constantly giving feedback to each other and most importantly splitting the work evenly so that each member can be happy with who did what in the project allowing for a much more enjoyable group atmosphere.

Organisation

Due to this task having a quickly approaching deadline it has been crucial to make sure we stay organised at all times to make sure we don’t fall behind and in the end have to present a rushed product. We have done this by creating a timeline of what should be done by certain dates to ensure that in the unlikely chance that we fall behind we know what needs to be done to catch up.

HASS PROGRESS REPORT: 1

As part of our Year 10 humanities course we are able to research a project of our own choice and to create an outcome to showcase at a final exhibition in Term 4. The topic we have chosen to research, is what are the effects of 9/11 now and then? We chose this topic because this year is the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and my partner and I have both found it interesting how the world has changed and adapted since the terrible event.

So far we have chosen, referenced and summarised the sources, that will give us relevant and valued information to our project. We have also identified the capabilities that we need to use for this project.

  • Ethical: We identified our need to be ethical because we want to make sure that we don’t offend anyone with our 9/11 project.
  • Organisation: We wanted to maintain an organised work routine to make sure that we stay on schedule and don’t leave any parts of the project to the last minute.
  • Collaboration: Collaboration was another key capability we want to use to make sure we keep each other updated on our progress and ideas while splitting the work equally to ensure everything is done without double up and missing parts.

Our plan for continuing our project includes collecting all the necessary information we can gather from our research into one place. Then, based on our research, start planning out the construction of our 9/11 model, making sure that anything we plan to do is will be ethically acceptable. Also to construct our presentation on the effects of 9/11 from then to now.
