Lock Dwellingup day trip

Kayaking and Resilience

On the Lock day trip we went to Dwellingup and one of the activities we did was Kayaking. The water was very cold and we had to get pushed down the stairs in our kayak into the lake and we then played some games while kayaking. I had to use resilience when doing kayaking as I was nervous to get pushed down the stairs so I had to be resilient.

Bush cooking and organisation

For the bush cooking in the day trip we had to choose a meal to cook over the fires that day and take all the equipment we needed. Me sienna and Jaide made vegetarian nachos over the fire. We heated up the nacho sauce with beans then put it over corn chips and put cheese on. We then had to put it over the fire to melt the cheese. It tasted very good and looked very good. To be able to make this meal we had to be organised and remember all the food we had to bring, divide it between the group members and then when cooking sort out who was going to do what.

Ropes course and problem solving

We went to treetops adventure on our excursion which is a ropes course. There were lots of different levels on the course and we were able to choose which courses we did. We had to learn how to attach ourselves to each obstacle using the clips on the harness. It was lots of fun and my favourite thing was the zip lines. I think we had to use problem solving for this activity as there were obstacles that were difficult to cross and to be able to get over we would need to problem solve.

Leave no Trace

Leave no trace is when we need to leave the place we are in as good condition or better than how we found it. This is important to protect the environment and keep it clean. The way we did this is ensuring that we put all our rubbish in the bin or take it with us. We also can’t leave food scraps so we be careful when doing the bush cooking. If we had time at the end we also walked around and picked up any rubbish we saw regardless if it was ours. This helped to clean up the campground.
