HASS Project Progress Update 2

By the end of the last progress update, our group, consisting of Casey, Vincent and me had managed to finish our annotated bibliography on what was eaten by soldiers during WW2 and how different countries fueled their troops. Since then, we have made considerable progress towards our goal, but have also encountered some problems.

First, we decided that we would show people about the food soldiers ae during WW2 by creating a restaurant that will serve people the food eaten in WW2 and have multiple posters telling people various facts about food eaten by soldiers during WW2. First of all we came up with a menu for the restaurant, which was; coffee and tea (both sides), chicken and vegetables (Allied nations) and tomato soup (Axis nations). We then found recipes for all the dishes and managed to create an ingredient list for everything. We then created a spreadsheet where we figured out costs, potential revenue and therefore, potential profit. Once that had been sorted, we started creating our menu, in which we tried to give each item name a war-related name such as “The Blood Of Our Enemies” for the tomato soup and “Dirtbag” for the tea.

During our planning, we also faced many problems, specifically availability. One of our group members had busy weekends, and we also needed to cook the food during the weekend before the exhibition. We solved this problem by deciding that the other group member and I would start cooking all the food and the busy one would join us if they could. Another problem we faced was the fact that the day after the night of the exhibition, I had 2 exams, meaning I would not be available for the actual exhibition. We solved this problem by deciding that I would stay for the first part of the exhibition, until I get assessed, and then I would leave.

Our group got a lot done these last 2 weeks, but we still have to create the informative posters, set up the restaurant, purchase the ingredients and also cook the food.
