Collaboration in English

In English, we had to use collaboration and teamwork for our group dramatic scene. In this assessment, we were required to create a dramatic scene which focused on an issue of our choosing and then we had to write the script and perform it in front of a small audience and the teacher. The issue my group chose to do was Covid-19 and the lockdowns it created and how these affected peoples everyday lives. At the start, a fourth member of our group was writing the script but towards when the assessment was due, he changed groups and we were required to rewrite the entire script since when we read it, it didn’t make any sense. This also forced me to be more resilient as we were pressed hard to write a script that was of decent quality before the due date.

We had to use communication and teamwork in this assessment if we wanted to get a good mark. We used communication when we had to rewrite the script since we divided the scenes equally amongst our members and when we did this, we had to communicate our ideas for each of our scenes so that they all made sense when we combined them into an actual play. I improved on my communication and teamwork here since I’m not a very social person or a very vocal one however I was forced to be better at both of those things since I needed to pass this assessment and couldn’t afford to fail it.

At the start of this assessment, I thought that it would be easier than a short answer assessment or an in class essay however as we got into the assessment, I realized that I was wrong as while it was easier than other assessment types with the fact that we didn’t have to write under pressure, it was also harder because of the fact that it was an assessment type that we weren’t used to and I especially wasn’t used to it as I find group assessments much harder than normal assessments if your not with your friends however after doing this assessment, I found that while your group members may not be your main friends, you can still work well with them and I also learnt to improve my teamwork and collaboration skills.
