Throughout my time at all saints I have done many things and had the opportunity to do many things which may showcase our abilities, teach and to flat out enjoy. One of these opportunities within year 10 has been Wind Waves Water. This subject (as the name implies) is do to with aquatic things such as sailing, stand up paddle boarding, diving and synchronised swimming. This subject/the activities one main thing in common the fact that you need to collaborate and communicate effectively, as well as display leadership in order to succeed in that activity.

in sailing we have had to collaborate as we sailed in large groups, as we needed to work together and collaborate to functionally steer the boat, but it wasn’t just our small groups we all needed to function together as a class so we can coordinate various turns so that we don’t crash. (within our groups we needed to coordinate turns so we don’t lay stagnant in the water and were able to turn what so ever.

However, sailing wasn’t where this subject ended we have also done diving, synchro swimming and stand up paddle boarding. Although these different actives may seem like they have nothing in common, these were all totally new skills for me.

Diving was particularly a unique experience, despite diving only going for the duration of 3 weeks (3 diving lesions) it was a true insight into the sport of diving. This doesn’t mean that we were doing a pike flips off the 10 meter it was an environment for all students (myself included) to step outside of our comfort zone and jump from the 7 am 10m board. These classes allowed us to show courage and face our fears whilst having a blast. This has allowed me to take away two key ideas, one- 10m looks a lot higher on top than from the ground and how enjoyable stepping out of your comfort zone is.

Overall WWW has taught me many things, but most importantly it has been a great experience to be outside and being active and was a fantastic way to spend Wednesday mornings during this semester.
