Science Geeks Video Competition Eportfolio Entry

What is the project you have been working on?

The task we had been assigned was to create a 2-3 minute video discussing a concept to do with change. In my group, I had Holly, Ebonnie, Tyler, and I. We chose the concept of change in night and day. The reason I chose this group was because I knew we could get our work done but also have a good time and have some fun. We all had different strengths which we needed to use, including creativity, getting to the point, patience, confidence, etc.

Now here is our video:

How Did We Organize Our Group?

When it came to organizing our group, we had many different strategies for doing it. We didn’t specifically assign roles to one another; it was more of teamwork and cooperation that got us through it. This included things like: writing the script together, picking out who was going to do what, who was going to film, what we were going to do in every scene, and more. As for my personal opinion, I think everyone got to contribute their ideas, as at the very beginning of this project, the first thing we had to do was to pick what change we were going to base our video on and we had to do a brainstorm “together.” If we were to have a second shot at doing this project, for the aspect of collaborating, I would spend more time with them choosing more ideas for the script, in more depth.

Disagreements/Strategies/Improvements-

Did my group and I have any disagreements? Yes. Let’s go into more depth though. My group and I are all friends and we love to joke around but sometimes one person wants to get the work done and the others aren’t listening and it just makes that one person mad which then causes a few disagreements between one another. To resolve any of the conflict that we may have had, firstly we would try make that person laugh and get into a good mood and spirit and then we would get the work done and then everyone was happy and we would just have a good time around each other. I would improve my work in this aspect by just getting it done so we would all be happy and we wouldn’t bump into anymore conflict.

Time Management-

My group and I managed the project quite well as we all knew what we had to get done before the project was due so we just dug our heads in and got it done and then we got to have al the fun we wanted. We did finish the project on time and we actually finished it early as we knew when we had to work and just focus on the project. I would improve in the time management aspect by not getting distracted by others and just really taking it seriously and focus on getting to an end goal which is what we did and we even got time to spare.

Conclusion-

Overall this has been an amazing, fun experience and I hope to do something similar to this in the future. It has taught be to be patient with others and that you don’t always have to take everything so seriously. It also taught me that it’s ok to have a bit of fun every now and then. It showed me that it can be quite important to choose people that you work together with so that the people around you don’t influence you in a bad way.
