Overall, the main feedback our group received was to create a timeline for our project. We acted on this feedback and also additional feedback telling us to make goals that we could achieve for our project along the way. We also got feedback to narrow down our ideas and focus on finalizing our concept.

Our project idea involves writing character profiles and creating physical boxes for our simulation. The simulation is based on the audience/parents being border force and deciding the fate of migrant characters that we create. We will then provide information based on the refugee laws in Australia, informing them on how the refugees would actually be treated, ending with an opportunity for them to think of laws they would like to be implied regarding refugees.

We have started making the profiles and developing the storylines of the characters. Our future progress includes gathering and starting to present the law information that we will need to be able to destine the refugees by the law.

We got the opportunity to create a Hass project that we want to work on. The topic that my group: Ayona, Stella and I chose to research more on is civics. We want to explore more about refugees in Australia, focusing on how they go through processes and be permitted to stay in Australia. Our essential question is “What factors are considered in destining refugees?”

So far in this project, we have collaboratively decided on our project idea together. I’ve started to work on the booklet, completing the first two pages. We vaguely have assigned roles of who’s working on what, and we all agreed to split all the work into three. Then we all have done some research because I believe that the annotated bibliography is counted as part of the research.

The plan when we come back from the holidays is to follow the booklet, continue researching and start making the props that we need for the exhibition.

Organised means being able to arrange all the upcoming events into specific orders, follow them and be on top of them. Task 6 was exactly one of the assessments that I can have practice and improve on this skill. This task requires me to create a formal script using dramatic techniques and perform a play between ten to fifteen minutes through representing an issue that my teammate and I think is important to us, which was sexism. My group focused on how women are being less respected and how they are being treated unfairly compared to their male colleagues in some male-dominated industries.

Before this assessment, I may not be the best at managing my time because for each task we usually have plenty of time to prepare for, so I won’t get as much of the opportunity to plan when and which assessment I should start first. However, in this task, I was working with quite a small group, three people including me. We basically had to have a completed script within a week.

Unfortunately, this task was assigned in one of my busy weeks. During that week, I had a design assessment due, a science test the next day and a French reading test to study for, so I didn’t really have enough time to work on this English group project. But since this task was not just my own business, I had to give more priority to this one. Previously, I might have put all the effort into the closest upcoming assessment, which was to finalise my design folio, and ignoring the other assessments before finishing it. Whereas this time, I have learnt how to identify and choose which one to begin with by putting into consideration of the weighting, the difficulty, so how long the assessment is going to take me to finish, and then the amount of time until it is due.
