On the 21st of February, my group Traversal, were one of the many rock bands that performed in the Pasar Malam. Leading up to the event, my group each contributed with lots of dedication and hard work, determined to make our performance stand out on the night of Pasar Malam.

The repertoire that we performed on the night included Gold on the Ceiling- The Black Keys, Come Together- The Beetles and The Chain- Fleetwood Mac. I play the keys for my group and surprisingly, performing wasn’t exactly nerve-racking. During our whole set, the atmosphere felt very chill and I just performed with the flow, even when the pedal for my keyboard stopped working. Our performance went well that night, it was the last time we would be performing those pieces and we definitely finished them off with a bang.

Performing in front of the public brings we joy which is indescribable. It’s a great experience and when you’re up on the stage and you’re performing what you love, you really feel at home. At the end, all of my band members enjoyed the rest of the night and we were all proud of ourselves for sharing our skills to the public.

Our next performance will take place on Monday, August 17th at The Mojo’s Bar in North Fremantle. I’m looking forward to seeing how our band has improved and to showcase another round of new pieces from diverse music groups.
