2021 Engineering Project – Science

The year 9 Engineering Project in science, term 4 was designed to test core skills such as collaboration, teamwork, and problem solving. I worked on this project with Holly and Annabelle, and we developed skills such as organisation, planning, and designing throughout the course of this task.

The aim of this task was to design and test an earthquake-resistant structure from spaghetti strands and blue-tack. The structure had to be 60cm or taller in height and the base could not exceed 30x30cm. It had to withstand 10 seconds of a combination of S waves and P waves on an earthquake simulating board.

Unfortunately, our structure did not meet the success criteria, however the process behind our structure provided careful planning and a method to our madness.
