Community Involvements

O’Connor House

As recorded in my College contributions, I have been a big participant in close to all of the house activities and offerings in my time at the College. I have been part of the Interhouse Sports teams since Year 7 (Touch, Netball, Volleyball & Capture the Flag) as well as the Interhouse Activities (Spelling, Choir, Quiz & Debating). In 2020 & 2021, I was also part of the O’Connor Council where I participated in activities such as organising house activities and Wellbeing Day. The council position was impactful in allowing me to experience how to organise events and also work with students from other years in a collaborative context. This year, I am also participating as part of the Peer Support program for the Year 8s. I have been of service to O’Connor house over the many years of my involvement. I have been able to work with younger years as debate coaches over the years as well as Interhouse Sports coaching during 2022. Both of these recent opportunities have allowed me to form meaningful connections with younger students and fulfil a mentor role in their school lives. I am also of service as a Peer Support Leader for the Year 8s and working with them as an upper school student and building connections with them. I have shown my commitment to O’Connor house over the years through my consistent involvement. I have been able to partake in the ones offered to me and also in attending them consistently over time. I have also been on the council for 2 years during which I was committed to the roles assigned to me when organising our activities for the house.

Service

I have participated in many of the service opportunities at the College which are including but are not limited to working with Amana Living on a service project (2019), helping out in the packing and organising for the food drive (2019-2021), RAAFA (2021), GenConnect (2021), Nulsen Youth Patron (2021) and fundraising for and participating in the Anglicare Sleepout (2021). My service to the College and ASC community has been through various activities I have partaken in. I was a Service Representative who worked on organising the Christmas Hampers at the end of the year and spoke to upper-year groups about it. As a Nulsen Youth Patron, I was useful in organising and preparing for the Nulsen Quiz Night and also being offered the opportunity to speak in front of their panel about the program. I also worked with the Catalyst team last year to fundraise for the Anglicare Sleepout where I raised a significant amount of money for the cause as well as helping them this year in arranging the SWOP Shop. My commitment during the years was relevant to my ability to be reliable and effective when organising my jobs for specific tasks such as the Quiz Night and for the Anglicare Sleepout. I have been committed for many years and consistently involved in opportunities when presented.
