Volunteering at the McDougall Community Garden

At the beginning of 2021, I decided that I wanted to become more involved in our community. So I began volunteering at the McDougall Community Garden every Saturday. Each Saturday morning, for one to two hours, I, along with a few other volunteers would complete various jobs in the garden such as watering the garden beds, planting new seedlings, applying mulch, weeding and many other things to keep us occupied. When there is a large haul of vegetables that are ready to be harvested, they are donated to food shelters which contributes to the meals that they make for the homeless.

I find it as a great way to be in nature and help the community, as well as learning and acquiring new skills that I can apply at home. I will definitely continue to volunteer at the Community Garden and recommend it to others who would like to help the community.
