Birds And Worms

This task was to take two kinds of photos, one from high up (birds eye view) and one from a low angle (worms eye view)

What I think worked about this photo is the model being the main focus of the photo, and the contrast of the blue dress to the pavement. What I feel could be improved in this photo was finding a fully green patch of grass so the brown dirt doesn’t distract from the model. The image is also quite plain with only 3 main colours. A high angle could create a meaning that the main focus/model is small and insignificant among the background. The centre of the image seems a bit blurry, which need to have been fixed in photoshop or retaken the photo.

I like this photo because it is a good use of the rule of thirds. I also enjoy the contrast between the main section of the tree and the lighter background, it creates almost a silhouette. There are many layers in the tree branches which shows the true height. This angle creates the mood that the viewer is small/seeing things from a different (lower) point of view. This photo could have been more creative if the other tree blocking the blue was out of frame and a small object (e.g. a small branch or bird) was there in the sky alone. The front of the photo is slightly blurry as well

  1. A good use of background in your high angle shot, make sure you do not have the same photo as other people though. I like the darkness in your low angle, but if you wanted to bring more light or colour into it – if the light sources in coming in from behind your subject use a reflector or additional light to light up your subject.
