Sustainability Maths Project 2020

In Maths our class, we have been given the task to find information and statistics about a sustainability project going on somewhere around the world. Alyssa and I chose to do it on the Little Sun Project which in summary is a company that with the usage of solar panels and recycled plastic, provides less fortunate countries with easy and cheap light sources. There are many benefits to solar energy as it;

  • supports the environment as it uses the sun’s energy (a renewable source), and the materials used in manufacturing are less harmful and recycled
  • Beginning to be aimed to be more economically accessible to everyone
  • People directly helped by the little sun project, or who have solar power, have the opportunity to improve their education (more hours working as no longer rely on sunlight as an only light source) and overall develop the country’s living standards

The Statistics we found can be seen in the powerpoint below: Little Sun Project .pptx

I find this project is on a very important topic as our world needs to resort to more sustainable options due to elements like CO2 destroying the atmosphere. A project is sustainable when defects can be corrected, it is able to meet new requirements, future maintenance is made easier, and it can cope with the changing environment. Furthermore Little Sun fits the part, and provides our world with many benefits.
