Innovat[ED] – Hygiene packs for people living with homelessness

In my Innovat[ED] group we are making hygiene packs for people living with homelessness.

We think that it is important during this hard time because COVID-19 have changed many peoples lives and may have affected people that are living on the streets. To stay healthy with all these germs in the world right now you need hygiene items to be able to do that. If people are homeless they are not able to get hygiene items so we are trying to make a change by collecting items for them.

In my group their is Emma, Hayley, Olivia and me. We have been working hard to try and get this finished by the end of the term but we may need to extend the collection date.

We have faced many challenges due to COVID-19. Our original project was to redesign the storeroom at the salvation army warehouse. We thought that we could do something more useful for them that doesn’t involve money as they may not be able to afford to buy anything right now.

The capabilities we have used has been problem solving and creativity. This is because we had to problem solve a lot this term due to COVID-19 it has been very important to problem solve due to restrictions that are still in place. We had to use creativity because we had think of a creative way to fund raise to be able to buy the pizza lunch and the bags to put the items in. We decided to do a crazy sock day in the junior school to get them involved.

Students are starting to bring in hygiene items which are very happy about and we might collect them on the last day or the start of next term.
