My First National Athletics Achievement

I compete in Para athletics specifically wheelchair racing in the T53 class. My achievement was being selected for the WA State All schools team to compete in the Under 17 Girls 800m in the Australian All Schools Championship

There were and still are many people who are involved in my wheelchair racing journey which include my coaches, my family, and other supporters both nationally and internationally including ex and current Paralympians, which helped me obtain this achievement. It has been a long process to qualify for the National All Schools and it started in late 2021 when I first began to learn wheelchair racing. With regular training over the course of about a year and half and receiving the best equipment I could I was finally able to push myself to having a spot in the WA team

I feel really proud because I have had a goal since I started to qualify for a national competition and finally did it. I have also always wanted to represent WA and wear the black and gold to continue the legacy of the great West Aussie wheelchair racers like Robyn Lambird, Madison de Rozario and Louise Sauvage. I want to represent WA again at the next Australian Junior Athletics championships by obtaining the national qualifying times required.
